Sycamore Down
Indiana State University · Interactive Horror · Unity Pipeline
Sycamore Down started as a small idea and turned into something way more personal. It is an interactive horror experience built around perception — what you think you are seeing versus what is actually there.
The project takes place in a familiar environment that slowly becomes unreliable. Instead of relying on jump scares, I focused on atmosphere. Lighting, sound, and spatial design do the heavy lifting. The goal was to make the player question their surroundings without ever fully explaining why.
This project spanned over two semesters and marked my first time working in game development. I went into it with no experience in Unity, 3D modeling, or texturing, and used it as an opportunity to learn the full pipeline from the ground up, including Blender and material work. It pushed me to think beyond visuals and into how design choices affect feeling. Every detail had to serve the experience.
